History
History of ceramic flat sheet membranes
1993
The birth of the technology
Prof. Dr. Horst Chmiel, professor for xyz at the university of Saarland (Saarbrücken, Germany) and Dr. Martin Kaschek, -position goes here-, invented and patented the ceramic flat sheet membrane..
2005
First ceramic flat-sheet membrane production in operation
First membrane production facility with 5,000 m² per year was established in Halberstadt Germany
2005
First ceramic flat membrane coating
Dr. Frank Ehlen et al. established first membrane slurry production
2005
Worldwide first sewage treatment plant
Kay G. Gabriel installed the first sewage treatment plant in St. Wendel, Germany. The capacity of the plant was 50 KLD.
2006
First commercially available module series
The first series of commercially usable modules was co-invented by Kay G. Gabriel and is today still used by a lot of manufactureres worldwide.

Inauguration of largest production in europe
CERAFILTEC opens her new headquarter in Saarbrücken, Germany.
The production has an annual capacity of up to 84,000 modules (equals up to 504,000 m² filter area or ~3,000 MLD filtration capacity).
The new warehouse has a capacity of 5.200 assembled modules ready to ship and 820 palettes for production components.
In the laboratory, in-house water analysis can be done as well as new coating and membrane recipes can be established.
In the adjoining Science and Technology Centre, offices for management, administration, R&D, logistics are located.
2024
Office expansion
With the growing headcount in all departments, new space is required.
Therefore, 33% of new office space is created.
